Tergar Portland Oregon
Under the guidance of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, the Tergar Meditation Community of Portland holds weekly online meetings and community events. As a community of friends exploring the practice of meditation, we gather to study and practice, and periodically host workshops and evening talks led by Tergar instructors.
Mingyur Rinpoche’s approach to meditation focuses on the practice of mindfulness, which unlocks the door to a calm mind, compassionate heart, and insight into the challenges of day to-day life. Rinpoche’s teachings emphasize universal principles that are of profound benefit to people of all faiths and belief systems. Whether you are new to meditation or a seasoned practitioner wanting to deepen your practice, please join us. Our meetings are free and open to all.
If you have any questions or would like to join any of our weekly meetings, send us an email at [email protected] or join our newsletter email list by clicking below. We look forward to meeting you!
Weekly Online Programs via Zoom

On the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of the month, we explore Mingyur Rinpoche’s teachings with the support and guidance of a comprehensive meditation group curriculum based on Mingyur Rinpoche’s books, The Joy of Living and Joyful Wisdom. The curriculum covers the core teachings of the Joy of Living program and includes guided meditations, experiential exercises and questions for group discussion.
There are no prerequisites for attending our group meetings. All are welcome!
On the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings of the month, we offer a 20 minute meditation practice followed by a book club presentation with small breakout groups for discussion. Chapter excerpts from the book we’re reading are screen shared and read out loud together. Each book club session is a stand-alone meeting and there are no prerequisites to attend. All are welcome!
Every Wednesday Morning from 9:30-10:30 AM Pacific via Zoom
Every Wednesday morning we offer a Nectar of the Path online practice. Nectar of the Path is a concise liturgy that was composed by Mingyur Rinpoche to distill the key points of the Buddhist path as a reminder for daily practice. Diversity and Inclusion Aspiration
As part of Tergar International’s commitment, “We are a global community striving to create and maintain a community culture where all who wish to participate are respected, safe, deeply valued, and have a sense of belonging. This intention is in line with the teachings that we study and aspire to practice to the best of our ability. We also recognize that inclusion enriches us all, bringing a wide range of perspectives, experiences and capacities, whereas exclusion impoverishes us as individuals, in our local communities and as a global society.” Read More…
